This Maths Dept Sharing Session (after the HOD's introduction) was followed by report-sharing by 3 teachers who are teaching the 3 different levels (grades 7, 8 & 9). Common strategies used by these teachers when they went through the assessment paper include:
(a) Highlighting common mistakes made by most pupils,
(b) Showing sample answer scripts to all pupils (to generate open discussion), &
(c) Getting students to verbalise their rationale for giving a certain solution for a particular question in the assessment paper (to check their understanding).
All 3 teachers ended their sharing with a personal reflection of the lesson that they had conducted. Such reflections were largely self-evaluative. However, one particular teacher went beyond that. His reflection was based on students' feedback of the lesson, as well as students' performance in a subsequent assessment paper after that lesson!
